iOS4: How To Multitask on iPhone 4
The much awaited iOS4 update for the iPhone and iPod Touch is officially available to all Apple users. While most software update will work with the some iPod Touches, the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS, multi-tasking is one of the greatest features available to Apple users. Thanks to Steve Jobs and Apple, multitasking is a very easy feature that allows individuals to run more than one app and switch through different apps when needed. The use of multitasking on the Apple devices is very advantageous to many users.
Multitasking is not difficult on the apple devices; one just has to double tap on
the home button when an app is open in order to bring up new apps to choose from at the bottom of the screen. This is feature is similar to our laptop/desktop computer features as we are able to listen to music while playing a game, checking our e-mail, or browsing the internet. One can scroll through the apps by shifting it to the right and/or left of the screen.
Once one has clicked on the app they want, they can seamlessly witch between current and previous apps they choose to multitask with. Closing an app is also easily, just press and hold the icon and then click on the hyphen, or (-) minus symbol that appears in the corner of the icon to remove it from the multitasking bar. We should all thank Steve Jobs for such a wonderful addition to our Apple devices. Now we just can’t wait until the iPhone 4 arrives at our doorsteps!

Hi I recently downloaded the ios4 update for my iPhone 3G successfully but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to multitask, currently my homes teen button is setup for a double click to take u right to iPod features. So no matter hat app I am running if I press the homescreen button it takes mentight back to my iPod features. Someone help me please!
FYI how do u change the background pic on the homescreen?
You cant multitask on 3G, only 3GS. Sucks to be you hahahahah
Will,
From what I have read on the Apple website multitasking is only available for the iPhone 3gs and iPhone 4. I would start by checking out the Apple website and look under iOS4 features. I remember seing an astrick next to the multitasking detail saying it would not work on iphone 2g or 3g.
Hope this helps!
Will, Multitask is not avaliable on iphone 3G, only on 3GS and 4. For further information go to http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate.
Cheers.
only the 3gs and I4 can multitask
The Phone 3g does not have all the features we don’t have multitask the iphone 3gs has everything.
you cannot multitask or have a home screen wallpaper on an iphone 3g or 2nd gen ipod touch, only on a 3gs, iphone 4 or ipod touch 3rd gen.
Hey Will. The multi-tasking feature as well as changing the background on your home screen, is only compatible with iphone 3GS/4, not 3G. Hope that helps!
Doesn’t work
Unfortunately, the iPhone 3G does not support multitasking or the changing of the background screen. Only available on the newer models.
to change homescreen background go to settings, wallpaper, and it shows two screens. one is your lock screen and other is homescreen background. click to change. select wallpaper to see the new additions in 4.0 software or choose a photo from your library. select one you like. hit set. it will ask you to set lock screen, set home screen, or both. you can have different ones per screen or the same for both.
As for multitasking, once my app is open i can double tap home button to swap between apps.
You can’t place a wallpaper on the homescreen or multi-task on the iPhone 3g with the new OS. Those features are only available on the 3GS and iPhone 4.
You cannot change the background on 3G, only 3GS and newer. Still checking on the “Double-Tap” home screen multitasking thing, mine doesn’t multitask either – may be like the background thing and only works on newer iPhones.
It appears that multitasking is also not supported on the 3G! Only 3GS and higher! At least my iPhone 4 will be in soon!
The iPhone 3G does not support multi tasking , only on the 3GS and 4g but you can jailbreak to make it work on the 4g
Will, FYI means “For Your Information.” Maybe you start a new acronym FMI.
Open the image you want to use, touch the options icon in the lower left corner of the screen and select use as wallpaper.
Option II
Settings, Wallpaper, Tap Display Icon, Select Wallpaper.
home screen >>
go to settings ‘wallpaper’
choose the one u want >set as home screen option
first fuck ur ipod and buy mr cond
You must update your apps.
those features are not available on the 3g. only 3gs and upcoming 4g.
you cann get around it by jailbreakingg the ios4 though with redsnow.
I believe Apple’s website says multi-tasking will be available on the iPhone 3GS and newer. ):
Sorry 3G doesn’t support multitasking menu bar after double clicking home button or home screen wallpaper changes. These features plus a couple more are on 3GS & 4
Multitasking only works on the 3GS and iPhone 4
Double tap the home button quickly to bring up apps you want to multitask.
For background…go to setting, then wallpaper. the rest of the steps is self explanatory.
Good luck.
i have 3G (not 3GS) with Ios 4.0 and the multitasking works fine+ changing background(lock screen and wallpaper)
This is great! It works on iPhone 3G! Just press the home button twice.
