iPhone OS 4.0 beta 3 firmware and SDK download released

iPhone developers can now download iPhone OS 4.0 beta 3 and iPhone SDK 4.0 beta 3 from the iPhone Dev Center. Apple made the downloads available early on May 4, but had to remove them due to some bugs but now they’re back up.
Unlocked iPhone users are advised not to use any beta firmwares. Upgrading to any iPhone 4.0 beta release upgrades the baseband of the iPhone, which means that current software unlocks won’t work and unlocked iPhone users will be stuck with a locked iPhone until, or if an exploit is found in the newer iPhone baseband.
This is the third beta release of iPhone 4.0 firmware, and so far Apple has been following the same pattern as last year. If Apple continues doing this, the final release of iPhone 4.0 firmware will be after three more beta releases.
The iPhone OS 4.0 beta 3 firmware is available for the following devices:
- iPhone OS 4.0 beta 3 (iPhone 3GS): iPhone2,1_4.0_8A260b_Restore.ipsw
- iPhone OS 4.0 beta 3 (iPhone 3G): iPhone1,2_4.0_8A260b_Restore.ipsw
